「インターステラー」はクリストファー・ノーラン監督の新作で、舞台は近未来。そこでは度重なる異常気象や食料危機により人類は存続の危機に直面している。主人公で元宇宙飛行士のクーパーは農場を経営しており、息子のトム、娘のマーフ（マーフィー）と一緒に暮らしている。あることがきっかけで、クーパーはかつての研究仲間であったブランド博士と再会することになり、そこではかつてのNASAが秘密裏に人類の宇宙への移住を進める計画が進められていた。クーパーはこの計画に加わることになり、土星近くに出現したワームホールから別の銀河系へと旅立つことになった。...

この映画ではウェイルズ(Wales）の詩人ディラン・トーマス(Dylan Thomas)の詩"Do not go gentle into that good night"が引用されていて、この詩の前半部がブランド博士（マイケル・ケイン）の台詞によって語られる。死を目前にして、それに黙って身を委ねるのではなく(Do not go gentle into that good night)、怒れ、死に抗えという詩のメッセージはこの映画のテーマに重なっている。

元ヴェルヴェット・アンダグラウンド(The Velvent Underground)のジョン・ケイル(John Cale)が1992年発売されたソロアルバム"Words For The Dying"の中で、取り上げて歌っているのを思い出した。
