Donny McCaslin "Beyond Now"
Donny McCaslin (ダニー・マッキャスリン)はサクソフォン奏者で、自身のバンドメンバーと共にDavid Bowie (デヴィッド・ボウイ）の遺作となったアルバム"Blackstar"に参加している。McCaslinの新作は、Bowieに捧げられており、アルバム"Outside"からの"A Small Plot of Land"と"Low"からは"Warszawa"の2曲のカバーが収録されている。Business Weekly誌のインタビューによると、"Warszawa"は今年の1月3週目、Bowieが亡くなった直後にニューヨークのVillage Vanguard（ヴィレッジ・ヴァンガード）での自身のバンドのライブで演奏したことがきっかけとなったようで、この曲を取り上げたのはキーボード奏者の提案で、その週は毎回この曲を演奏し、そうすることで感情的に高ぶった気持ちを落ち着かせ、前に進む気力が出てきたと答えている。"A Small Plot of Land"はこのアルバムのプロデューサーであるDavid Binney (デヴィッド・ビニー）の提案によって選ばれた。この曲はバンドメンバーの感情に共鳴しており、この曲の枠組でバンドメンバー自身の物語を語ることができるのではないかと思っていたようだ。
他に、Deadmou5のアルバム"While"の"Coelacanth 1"とMutemathの"Vitals"から"Remain"をカバーしている。"Skake Loose"のメロディーの構成の仕方はKendrick Lamar（ケンドリック・ラマー）の影響によるもので、これはBowieがアルバム"Blackstar"録音時にLamarを良く聞いていたことに繋がっている。
